I recently visited Fenwick Island for a few days of rest and relaxation. While I was there I photographed a few sunrises and made a short video.

What are Vivid Metal Prints?

My Vivid Metal Prints represent a new art medium for preserving photos by infusing dyes directly into specially coated aluminum sheets. This process is referred to as Dye-Sublimation and it requires specialized equipment to produce.

Bonus!
Because my images are infused into the surface of the aluminum and not printed directly on it, the Vivid Metal Prints are provided with a permanent protection that is an ultra-hard scratch-resistant surface. It's also waterproof and can be easily cleaned!

The Results are a magical luminescence!
You've never seen a more brilliant and impressive print! Colors are vibrant and the luminescence is breathtaking. Detail and resolution are unsurpassed!

Comes Ready to Hang - Framing is not required
To complement this unique printing method, I have a wide variety of creative and modern ways to hang and display your Vivid Metal prints.
No special tools are required and typical just a screw will be just fine. (Note: I provide a special screw that works great for hanging artwork)

For my small to medium Vivid Metal Prints (under 40 inches)

These metal prints will have a 1/2 inch spacer block with an attached hanging bracket

For my larger Vivid Metal Prints (Over 40 inches)

These metal prints will have an aluminum sub-frame, inset a few inches from the edge, around the metal print. This will hang from the attached hanging wire, similar to a frame or canvas print.

FAQ
WHAT IS DYE-SUBLIMATION?
  • In the hard surface dye sublimation industry, an image is printed onto dye sublimation transfer paper using dye-based inks and then transferred onto a specially coated surface with heat and pressure. The result is stunning with vibrant color and a unique dimensional quality.
DOES MY VIVID METAL PRINT NEED TO BE FRAMED UNDER GLASS?
  • No. My vivid metal print's unique coating allows it to be showcased without the need for glass. Vivid metal prints are scratch resistant, waterproof, can be touched, and are easy to clean. Actually, framing is not needed at all and without the frame they have a clean and contemporary look.
HOW DO I CLEAN MY VIVID METAL PRINT?
  • Unlike other photo print media, My Vivid Metal Prints are easy to clean. Your metal print can be cleaned with a cloth and any all-purpose household cleaner. The cleaner can be sprayed directly on the surface of the print and then wiped with a cloth as needed.

As winter ends and we head into the spring season I look forward to the upcoming art shows. But first, it is the time of the year that I review, edit and upload photos I have shot during 2018. Over the next few weeks I will preview these new images here and load them onto my website. Enjoy today's installment. (Also my new cover photo for my Website!)

Traveling Symphony of Color
My latest photograph from this past Autumn, "Traveling Symphony of Color". This cool little bridge resides in Media, Pennsylvania and spans the Chester Creek. I love the way the vivid colors of the fall foliage sandwich this unique bridge. The mid-day, cloud covered, sky provided the perfect amount of diffused lighting to help bring out all the right highlights.

Side note:
I arrived at this location after picking up my youngest daughter from kindergarten. Although I typically go on shoots alone, out of all my kids, she seems to tolerate the "exploring", as I like to call it, better than her siblings. The bridge was a our first stop and almost the last stop of the day. As I was photographing the bridge, she managed to get both of her feet buried in the mud along the bank of the creek. Not overly upset, just a slight "Um Dad, help!". I went over and rescued her from the mud only to realize that her sneakers were still submerged. Carefully, I dug out the shoes and proceeded to clean them off. With the shoes in "acceptable" condition we continued on our way. We just had to figure out how to tell mom why her sneakers were now mud stained.
